Architecture is not a solitary endeavor. As architects, we continually collaborate, with clients, colleagues, and consultants. By sharing our collective skills, knowledge, and insight, together we are able to shape the built environment around us.
The AIA Long Island Chapter will be hosting the 17th annual Product Fair, on April 11th, 2019. The Product Fair is an opportunity for our members to come together with our colleagues, and with industry experts, in a collaborate setting.
The primary purpose of the annual Product Fair is to expose our members to new products, emerging technologies, and to the highly-skilled specialists who can help employ these. Hours of free continuing education classes, allow an architect to get in-depth understanding in a wide variety of subjects. Dozens of vendors, collected at a single event, allows an architect to grow their network of industry experts/consultants. Hundreds of architects gathered together, is simply a great way to connect with friends and colleges.
A unique aspect of this year’s Product Fair is that AIA Long Island needs its members to play an active role in the business of the chapter. All of our members have been notified and should be aware of, the pending changes to the bylaws. The chapter needs to update its governing document, in order to better meet the needs of its members. But the chapter also needs the participation of its members to officially adopt the revised language. The annual Product Fair has constantly been the most widely attended event of the year. In an effort to include as many of our members as possible, the chapter will vote on bylaw revisions the morning of.
The Product Fair a great opportunity for our members to build cooperative relationships within the industry. It is also the best opportunity for our members to directly participate in the governance of the chapter.
On behalf of the board of directors, we hope all members take full advantage of this year's event.
Thank you for the honor of serving as chapter president. Sincerely,
Jake Rivalsi, Architect, AIA,
AIA Long Island Chapter, President, 2019
